You should know that there's a big difference in cable. Most cable is made to handle low frequency, TV signals. The signal coming in from the LNB to the receiver is 950 Mhz to over 2000 Mhz and the satellite receivers send low voltage back to power the LNB at the dish. Ideally, for runs of 100 feet or more, you should use RG-6 coax because the center conductor is larger in diameter and handles the high frequencies and low voltage power. All the cable center conductors today are copper coated steel and at the high frequencies, the signal travels around about the outer millionth of an inch. Since nothing is perfect, there are bound to be a few flaws in the coating. To check for flaws, we require that the RG-6 cable in our kits be checked on a spectrum analyzer (swept) to insure that it will handle the high frequencies. All the cable that doesn't pass is sold to someone else, who is probably offering it Free. Some cable only has a 40% shield, but we require 100% shielding to insure there won't be outside interference. This doesn't mean the lower grade cable won't work, but when you go to all the trouble to install your new satellite system, do you want less than the best cable?
Our installation kit is designed to work with Dish 500 Twin LNB. The kit contains one 75 ft length and one 25 ft length of swept RG-6 cable, with weather tight connectors attached. Plus, a compass, a ground block, cable coupler, lag bolts, mollies, aluminum ground wire, silcone sealant, wire ties, cable clips and a two way, plug in phone jack. This should be about everything you need to install a single receiver, but you may need to pick up a few odds and ends locally. Exception: With the Dish 500 and two dual LNB's, which is required for the extra dish used for HDTV and/or foreign channels, you will need to make up some short cables to go to the switches. You should be able make up short cables with the cable supplied in the installation kit. Twist on connectors or short pieces of cable should be very inexpensive locally.
A Dual Installation kit is the same as two single installation kits and is normally needed for two receivers.
